About

What is the AIED Design Hub?

The AIED Design Hub is a free, open education resource for New Zealand secondary teachers. Find appropriate AI tools, generate curriculum-aligned lesson ideas with AI Literacy, audit your assessments for AI readiness, and stay current with the latest AI news in education.

About the Creator

The AIED Design Hub was created by Laurel Silvester, a secondary English teacher and Dean at Rototuna Senior High School in Hamilton, Aotearoa New Zealand. Laurel is the AI Lead at her school and is passionate about helping teachers navigate AI in education with confidence, clarity, and ethical grounding.

About the Project

This project was developed through OE4BW (Open Education for a Better World), a UNESCO-affiliated initiative that supports educators in building open, inclusive, and sustainable educational resources for global impact.

The Hub grew out of Laurel’s work as an Innovative Teaching Practice researcher exploring human agency in AI use, and her commitment to ensuring that AI literacy is embedded naturally into existing teaching practice rather than treated as a separate add-on.
